Good Samaritans, what are they? I think that they are people who go out of there way to help others when no one else will and do things the average man normally wouldn't for those people; They pretty much go over the top to help, almost a hero. Good Samaritans are still out there and end up doing some pretty great things. However some of these things often end up putting them in bad places and get hurt and/or even killed.
"Good Samaritan Struck by Vehicle." The guy was giving gas some gas to a woman on the side of the freeway because she had none and was stuck. As he gives her some, he gets hit by a speeding truck and is now in intensive care. He died later that week. Here is another, "Good Samaritan groom killed hours after wedding." The groom and his new wife were on there way home when he saw a woman in her car on the side of the road in the snow. He stopped to help her and told his wife that he must do so because it is cold and dark. After he pulls her out of the car, they get hit by an oncoming vehicle, then another, and another. Three times they are hit and both of them are dead. That bride went from a newly wed to a widow in just a few hours. The groom was a retired Army Ranger. Las one, "Stranded Motorists Attack Good Samaritan." A woman named Stephanie got out of her car to help some stranded people on the side of the road. Afterwards, she gets attacked by the motorists and finds her Christmas Presents in her car are stolen.
All of these articles show fine examples of Good Samaritans, except they end up dead. The last one doesn't have the Samaritan dying in the end, but she most certainly could have. In the end, if you choose to help a person you aren't only doing a good deed, but also putting your life on the line. Take the people above as fine examples. The were all Good Samaritans who gave there lives, and became heroes, except the last who almost did.

Homeless in Cleveland and Comparison to "The Street Lawyer"
So after reading this article, I've noticed some similarities and differences between it an "The Street Lawyer" and some differences as well. First I will compare them then contrast them. Ok, here we go.
What I noticed to be similar is how dedicated the main guy in each was. Michael gave up everything to help in " The Street Lawyer" and Brian Davis spent all his time with the newspaper using what power he had to get the local homeless issues noticed. Both also achieved their goals in getting noticed by the mainstream media. Both of them even occurred obstacles in their lives. Michael got arrested and had to go to court for stealing the file while Brian had received threats from his boss.
Some differences that I saw is what actually happened. Michael went through realistic but semi-unrealistic events such as theft, coincidental car accidents, jail-beatings without defending himself and much more. Brian however just worked and worked at his newspaper and had no serious obstacles. There are many other differences but I'm low on time.
In the end, many similarities and differences but they both were good stories and were for a good cause. Both of them, Michael and Brian, earned GOML rights. Have a nice day!

"The Street Lawyer," FIN
So, my time with "The Street Lawyer" has come to an end. I no longer need spend my time worrying about it. However some predictions need to be made about Michael. What does the future have in store for Michael? Will he stay with the 14th Street Clinic? Will the clinic change in anyway? What about his relationship status? Will he be successful with ruby? These are what need to be answered and I'll will answer them right about, now!
What does the future have in store for Michael? I believe that the future for Michael will be good for him. He in fact will stay with the clinic because they love having Michael and Michael loves being there. His work with the clinic and the homeless is not over because there is plenty more to be done and he is just getting started. I agree that the clinic will change in itself as well. The 10% of the 2million dollars that was acquired should also be able to pay for some upgrades to the clinic. As for clinic employees, they should have good morale after there amazing court settlement.
Now, about Michael's relationship status. They will not only be a good couple in the future(possible marriage and family and stuff) but a good partners in the homeless helping world. Michael is a public service lawyer and Megan(cute name) is a shelter director. They go together like a fat guy and diabetes :) . In case your wondering, Michael will and probably already is successful with Ruby. She's already on the fast track to recovery and shows no sign of relapse. I believe she will be able to see her son Terrence soon.
Anyway, my conclusion is that Michael has a good future ahead for himself, unless he gets hit by a car or something then it will definitely suck, but otherwise looks bright. As for my opinion of the book, I think it was ok. I give it a 7/10, 7 for not being a book of my personal taste and needing of some improvement but decent otherwise.

"The Street Lawyer," Money, Race, Power Oh My
Money, race, and power are the three big things discussed in The Street Lawyer. What effect does the Washington D.C. setting have on them? I'll tell you what I think, the are amplified because Washington D.C. has all three of those in its "beautiful" city; I use the term beautiful lightly. D.C. has money because of rich politicians, it has power because it's the nation's capitol, and it has race because of the cultural boundaries through out the city.
Money is a key thing in the world because it is what makes the world go round, although it not worth anything because in reality we give it it's worth. Washington D.C. has much of this because of all of the rich white collar workers and companies. In The Street Lawyer, Money is all Michael cared about in the beginning and is all most care about in the story. Everyone at Drake & Sweeney is a rich "donkey" and has no care for anything else in the world. Michael eventually renounces this trashy lifestyle.
Race is big in the world because the world is dumb enough to keep cultural boundaries instead of saying, "He we are all human!" In Washington D.C. race is important because the races are divided by politicians who move them to bad neighborhoods so others look good. In The Street Lawyer, race is big because most homeless are black and the rest are white or other. This brings race into the mix when homeless are hated on by political haters in congress. Sounds like something Mordecai Green would say.
Power is king! If you don't have power in the world then you aren't going anywhere. In Washington D.C. there is power because they are the capitol of the world most powerful country, AMERICA! However I think China beats us, call me a traitor but that will make you a hater ( hey that rhymed!) In The Street Lawyer, power is held by many because if you aren't homeless or defending them, you have power because it is those with power who hate homeless.
I know I hate Kanye West, but he said it well when he said, "No one man should have all that power," and Braden Chance has too damn (pardon my language) much. Actually, a lot of buttholes in this story have too much power, especaily Clair and her divorce happy attitude. Seriously she is such a Gold digger. All these Lawyers and planning for a divorce that gets dropped onto Michael, poor guy got blindsided by that one. Anyway, have a nice day!

"The Street Lawyer," Michael and Midlife Crisis, No!
Many people believe Michael is going through a midlife crisis, I think they are a bunch of "jack wagons." He is simply going the distance to help homeless. He practically risked his life getting the file about who evicted all the people( DeVon, Ontario and his family etc.). He also did a lot with the soup kitchens and gave up his job practice public law.
All of this was Michael changing his ways for the better. He isn't going through a midlife crisis, he had a revelation. A revelation that came when DeVon's spinal fluid and blood spewed all over Michael's face and mouth! Okay that sounded gross, but it happened. Nobody else understands why Michael is doing what he is doing because they don't know what was felt or what went through his head at the time. The only person who will ever get it is Michael. He goes on the street with his life on the line to do good and stick it to the man who is in his cozy office making the big money. Michael is kicking people in their "badonkadonks" left and right, like a boss.
In the end, people will never understand. It isn't a midlife crisis, it is a change of heart in the right direction. Kind of makes you wonder what a midlife crisis really is, don't you think? Anyway, some of these "poop butts" need to get their facts straight before they jump to conclusions. That's right I'm talking about Clair, stupid gold digger. Reminds me of Paris Hilton.

"The Street Lawyer," Would DeVon Pull the Trigger?
So, a homeless guy walks into a law firm with a gun....no this isn't the start to a bad joke, it's a scene in a book by John Grisham. Our main guy, Michael Brock, is a tax lawyer and a bit of a jerk. Our homeless man who goes by the codename "Mister," who's real name is DeVon Hardy, holds the firm hostage.
The question is, would DeVon have actually killed someone? My answer is no, here is why. All DeVon actually wanted was answers and the truth. He asked repeatedly "Who are the evictors?" because someone in Michael's firm was responsible. True, DeVon fired a few shots into the ceiling to scare them up, especially Raftor, a cocky and mouthy lawyer, but never intended to hert anyone. Later DeVon ordered some soup kitchen grade soup from the cops outside to prove to all the lawyers what being homeless was like, he also told stories. Again all DeVon wanted was the truth and to prove a point to the successful "anuses" who have wealth what homeless and poor have to go through and to find those responsible for his eviction.
Too bad he got shot in the face at the end because I knew he wouldn't have actually killed anybody, and Michael in the end knew this too.

4 Topics for blogs (It's my opinion, don't make fun of me).
So, four topics that I find interesting for blogs eh? Well I have a great imagination and can easily come up with some. However, I am bad at thinking on the spot so I may not be as good.
Number one, Hipsters! What do you think about them? Are they good or bad? Are they a disgrace to society? Personally I believe they are slaves to the Mainstream Media and are losers at life. I think it would be spectacular to see what they feel about hipsters. Especially since there are hipsters in our very school (plot twist)!
Number two, Materialization and why we do it. So many people become attached to a single object but not a lot of people take the time to think about why. I am personally addicted to X-Box and can't go without it. However I think of it as a personal passion and past time, like a fine art Others (mainly hipsters, who knew?) are obsessed with their cell phones, smart phones to be specific. Every year there is a new one and they just have to upgrade. They care not of the price or the fact that it isn't much better than the previous, they just buy and buy. Such spoiled idiots (I'm refraining from using "other" words) I think.
Number three, teen sensations! What was that? Yes! teen sensations, they are only obsessed with fame and don't have any true musical talent. I know they can sing and if they couldn't then they wouldn't really be anywhere in the world, but that doesn't matter! Most of their success comes from physical appearance and sex appeal, so unless you have a passion for what your doing and care then you are just crap. You can still have the sex appeal but you still need to have the passion ( I'm stuck in the 70's man). People who I think are true artists are Freddie Mercury and Def Leppard. Those who aren't are one direction and Justin bieber. They are passionless fame loving trash bags who don't deserve the success they have now. The only reason they made it was because of all the teens who want their bodies. They mostly buy their albums to hear their voices, not because they are good, and they aren't. Did I mention that the majority of people who are fans of them are also hipsters? I'm sensing a pattern here, are you?
Number four and final, Expensive Clothing. Why must people buy over priced shirts and shoes?! I can pay $50 max for a good pair of shoes and people will pay $300 for shoes just as good. Seriously it happens. Same goes for shirts, I'll pay $10 for a nice graphic shirt and someone will pay $80 for a shirt just because it is a certain brand. I get made fun of for buying clothes from Wal-Mart! Well the joke is on them, I have $70 more than they do and my shirt will probably last longer. Lets not get started on skinny jeans, curse those ignorant leggings! Wait a second, what kind of people buy clothing like this? Hipsters do! It all makes sense, 3/4 of my topics apply to hipsters and 1/4 of y topics is about hipsters! They are a scourge in the world today.
Well, I hope you liked my blog for my topic ideas. Goodnight Everyone and sweet dreams! :)

To Read or not to Read....
Recent surveys show that only one in four people read books in America. Sounds surprising doesn't it? Well to be honest, it didn't surprise me. I already kind of knew that in my head because reading just isn't something people like to do now a days. One thing did pop out at me though, and made me laugh.
Democrats and Liberals read more than Conservatives and Republicans. This is funny to me because I'm kind of a Liberal in a sense. I don't really like Republicans much and Democrats tend to agree with my personal views. Truthfully, I am independent because there are Republicans I like, but I hate (yes hate) a majority of them (Boehner, Bush, Bush Sr., Cheney etc.). I digress, but this statistic caught my eye. Also, the Republicans and Conservatives who read often read more religious books than other genres. This really got me and I'll explain why. I'm a fan of Bill Maher, and he hates Republicans. One of his opinions on Republicans is that they are too religious with their decisions. They mix religion in politics too much, so reading this statistic sort of reinforced his opinions and made me laugh.
In conclusion, the survey didn't tell me a lot of things I didn't already know. However certain things stuck out for me, and those things were funny. That's all folks!

GA vs. CH
Geauga Academy is so much better than Chardon High, but how much better? I can easily explain how much because I've thought on the topic frequently. I won't lie there are some things, only a few, that Chardon has that GA doesn't, but let's look at the differences first.
GA has only two teachers to work with, unlike Chardon which has ten. The teachers here are really charismatic and aren't causing several headaches and yawning sessions. Which is something nearly every Chardon teacher I have had has caused me. Classes are simpler and more fun, even the ones I despised and failed last year. Oh, did I mention the food and environment is much nicer at GA than Chardon. Probably because they use real non-poopy supplies (fake cheese is the worst).
Chardon has familiar faces, kind of a given. Not saying I don't like the non-Chardon people at GA but it just took awhile to get know them. This next one might make you laugh, but Chardon had much nicer water fountains. Yes, the water was tastier. It didn't have all of the "iron" flavor, many had it, but some didn't.
Well, that is all I have to say about that. Yes, I made a Forest Gump reference. Goodnight everybody!

YOLO: what it "really" means
YOLO! No, I do not mean that stupid #yolo stuff you see on the mainstream. I mean the real YOLO! YOLO! as in "live life to the fullest, because you only live once." Unlike #yolo where people say "yolo" and then do something stupid like a front flip off their roof into a pool while wearing roller skates because "you only live once." Ignorance I say, because the real YOLO! has true meaning in it.
The true YOLO! means to do good in life and do everything that interests you because before you know it, poof! your life has ended (death). If there is something in life you really want to do before you die (excluding random acts of stupidity, as seen in #yolo scenarios), then you should do it. In short, the real YOLO! means "live life to the fullest" because it is too short and you should do everything you want, so take it seriously.
So ignore all of those ignorant mainstream jack wagons who say "yolo" and do some stunt and act stupid. Listen to those who say "yolo" and tell you to enjoy live, because it is a gift, and don't do stupid stuff that can get you killed like every other kid who follows #yolo instead of YOLO! I hope you see the difference. Oh I almost forgot, YOLO!

Super-Huge Mustard! what is the point?
Why is it people buy in excess? Will they actually use it, are they just fat, or does it just look plain cool? The answer is in perspective alone. One man can be walking through Costco and think, "Holy crap! They sell giant bottles of mustard? I'm buying two of that and showing my friends!" While another guy thinks " Jeez, super-huge mustard? I can use that to feed my 12 kids!" Why they do it can be for any reason with sense in it or not at all. Some actually use it, others are just plain stupid.
Those who use it can have many reasons. Maybe they have a large family and need to purchase in excess to provide for them. Others are really gluttonous and eat a giant jug of mustard or ketchup, or even Bar-B-Q sauce just because they can! However at least they use the stuff for its intended use. Many people will get excess stuff because, well, it is fun. I mean the average young adult will see a huge jug of mustard and just flip out at the sight because such a thing isn't entirely common.
On the other hand, you have the idiots. These people will buy in excess for some reason and NOT use it for the intended purpose. Maybe they will make a purchase and use it once or twice and think "Oh man I'm sick of mustard, I probably should have thought this through." Yes they bought in excess and started to use it for the intended purpose but stopped and wasted it. now this next part may seem wacky, but it happens. People sometimes will buy in excess, mustard for example, for stupid stunts. This goes against the intended purpose.
They will use the excess jugs of mustard to fill a pool and swim in it because they are strange and clearly shouldn't be able to make financial decisions at the store by themselves. It is true, some people do such things.
The summery is this, if people do decide to buy in excess then they have reasons why.

Film vs. Books! "The Ultimate Showdown"
What can film do that a book can not? First off, you can see it (duh). It is a visual experience and you can see everything. Secondly, film shows you a characters appearance and features unlike a book which names only important details on a character's appearance. Movies/films give you everything on screen and you just sit and watch. It sounds almost lazy, but still very fun and entertaining.
With a book, you can visualize evrything in your head. Now a movie/film does this for you, but it isn't the same. The reason why is because of imagination! You make everything up in your head. What people look like, what the setting looks like, night or day. Sometimes a book tells you details on what a person looks like, but usually you must figure it out on your own.
I like movies/films more because I see what is happening. I'm also lazy and hate reading so that could sway my answer. Trulthfully, books should be better sense you can do more in text that on the bigscreen. Which is why Directors cut so much when adapting a book to a film. Not to mention writers have to do a bit more work, in my opinion. Honestly though both are really good, I just like film more than a book.

Why I think you think we read literature like a professer, In my opinion.
Why "are" we reading How to read Literature Like a Professor in class this year? Well I think it's because it contains everything we need to know and need to learn for this year. It also has a surprisingly humorous aspect to it that isn't seen in any other Literature textbook anywhere. I think I speak for every one when I say we can finally enjoy Literature!
Why is it first? Well it's probably first because, as I said earlier, it contains everything we need this year. Also, if we read it first we will know the basics for any and possibly everything we must know for future works.
What makes this book difficult? Well for starters, the writer writes in a very different style that I'm not used to seeing. It can sometimes be hard to understand what point he's trying to get across to you and I, the readers. He also reverences other work that I have never heard of! It can be very annoying, but who cares.
What makes it easy? I'll tell you, it is funny! I said this earlier, the book has humor. You can actually read a book on Literature and not get bored for once which I certainly enjoy. The writer also goes on and on one point so you get a feel for what he is trying to explain and teach you. Though I said this earlier in why it's hard to understand the point, it's also easy too. It's hard to understand but the way he does it it's also easy, once you get it.
Yes as you can see I actually enjoy How to read Literature like a Professor. I will most likely, definitely know more on Literature by the end of this book. I'm kind of curious on what we will read next in class. A little to curious.

Dinner with Gandhi on Saturday night!
If I could have a dinner with anyone in history, it would be with Mahatma Gandhi. His religion would make the meal interesting. He can not eat animals at all because of Hinduism and it would be awkward because I....well I do eat animals (sense the adventure!). He wears his adverse homespun clothing and strap sandals to the table and I wear shorts, hi-tops and a t-shirt. The cultural and time differences would make the situation odd, uncomfortable and just downright....interesting? Yes I'd find the situation more interesting than strange, though Gandhi might find it the direct opposite. How would I know, the Mahatma is a wise man of wisdom and he too might feel the same. Though I will never know for sure.
What would we eat? I'd have a steak (this just got weird), potatoes & gravy, stuffing and a Pepsi ( preferably throwback). Sounds super delicious! Gandhi would have, well I am not sure what he'd have. He can't have meat so that's out of the question. Now that I think about it, Gandhi would have a salad and water. He likes to eat light and healthy (like he has a choice? He's Hindu!).
What kind of conversation would we have? I'd talk about myself and the average American life, give the old Mahatma a taste of western culture. Mostly we would talk about Gandhi and his culture, he is the guest after all. I'd ask him about himself, his struggles, his victories and Hinduism. I would love to know more but we ran out of time.
The dinner was great but the Mahatma had to go, it was time for weekend meditation and prayer. After all, Gandhi is a busy fellow. I had a wonderful time meeting him, maybe next week I'll see if I can have breakfast with Teddy Roosevelt; I have been dying to ask him about the first hand Panama Canal story!

What Writing an Obituary Taught Me.
Writing my own obituary taught me to value life. We could literally die at any moment in life. I could die right here right now an.....gotcha! But seriously, it's true death is imminent .Writing my own obituary has reminded me that we should live everything to the fullest, otherwise
it meant nothing.
It also taught me a lot on death. Death is a very common element in literature. In a story we read in class called, "The Red Convertible", two brothers named Lymon and Henry buy a new red car. They put all they had into it and go on a big road trip. They also learn many lessons, especially when Henry goes to Vietnam for service. He comes back and has Post Traumatic Stress Disorder and is not himself. His brother, Lymon, tries to help him but has no success. Later on he smashes up the red convertible car. He does this to jog Henry's memory and remind him of the old days. It turns into a big success and Henry fixes the car. The two go on a road trip to the Red River for fun and Henry ends up committing suicide. Lymon then drives the car into the river, jumping out of course, to give it back to him. Two great, loving brothers end up having never before seen problems when Henry comes home from Vietnam. They get better and then Henry dies.
It was all so sudden and unpredictable, but it happened. We must always be ready for death. No matter what, where, or when. This is because when it comes we all must have a plan and know what to do. We won't always be the only ones dealing with the loss. Others will be in pain to and we should also know how to help them. Whether he/she is a sibling, an aunt/uncle, or good friend. Death is every where and it could come for me or you. So be prepared and value the life you and I have now.
