Shaw-some-shank Redurption

The Shawshank Redemption, the best prison movie ever made. But there is one thing I can't get off my mind, is there redemption in the movie at all? Of course, but who gets it? I will give you a hint, only two people get it and it is kind of obvious who they are. First, Andy Dufresne, the protagonist.

Andy is in for murdering his wife and her lover(and he didn't even do it, ha!). He was sentenced to life in prison and served about twenty years of it before escaping. He escaped via digging a hole to the sewage pipes in the walls with his rock hammer that he got from his friend Red. After escaping he set the warden up for exposure of his money laundering. After that, he goes to Mexico.

Even though Andy is innocent, he still undergoes redemption. This is because he goes through a phoenix like process and becomes a better man. Andy went into prison as a broken and kind of selfish man. After some deals were made with the guards that got the inmates beer and work was put towards getting new books for the inmates, Andy had begun his redemption. It was when a library was built to house the new books that Andy gained great respect. His bank skills were used to do taxes for guards and do the books for the warden's laundering scandal. The warden used Andy the most. Andy even helped one new inmate get his high school diploma! That same inmate even told Andy a story that proved Andy was innocent, but when the warden was informed he threw Andy in solitary for a month, and another month was added when the first ended(the warden is a butt bag). When Andy came out, he was stronger and fed up with the warden(Phoenix phase). He stole the warden's shoes and suit then escaped through a tunnel that he had been digging since he arrived. Once out, Andy committed an act that gave him full redemption. He exposed the warden for all the money laundering he had done and once the police showed up, he shot himself(HEADSHOT!). The head guard was also arrested. Andy then took some of the warden's money to sustain himself and went to Mexico. As for Andy's friend Red who helped him with a lot inside and got him the hammer(he didn't know it was for escaping), he is next for redemption.

Red was inside for murder as well. Not sure who he killed but that is why. He is the man who can get you anything on the inside. He got Andy his hammer and lady posters(which secretly hid the tunnel). He hung out with Andy all the time and helped with his library. Eventually after several failures, Red got parole when he spilled his guts in a way that he never did before(result of Andy's influence on him).

Red's redemption starts when the prison sisters who had been raping Andy(nasty) were busted. Red wanted everyone in their clique to treat Andy better because of all he went through. Red also played catch and checkers with Andy. They sat together at movies too. Red just did tons of good things with Andy when no one else would. Then Andy, after his two months of solitary, gave red instructions for if he ever got out and had him promise to follow them. Red makes parole some time after Andy's escape when Red spills his honest truth to the officer in a way he never did before during parole hearings. Red acted that way because with Andy gone and doing what he did to the warden, Red learned something about the prison system. No matter what you say, they will keep you if they want. After telling them off how he did, Red actually got his freedom and Redemption. Red followed Andy's first set of instructions after adjusting to the outside some, and found quite a bit of money as a gift from Andy. The second set of instructions was to go to Mexico and find Andy. He did and they sailed together, beyond the sea(a little Bobby Darin for you).

That's my final blog, and here's a Family Guy Andy and Red!
